***** Welcome To The Neighborhood

By Book Mouse on April 18, 2015

I have a problem with this book. The other people here in the bar where my boyfriend is setting up to DJ probably think I am a total loon. I have been sitting here laughing so hard I could barely see to read. This book is absolutely delightful! It is a very pleasant story without vampires, murderers, or other typical sorts so often found in books today. There is a drug dealer but he is a minor character although he was responsible for much of the laughter. The people are quirky, likeable, every day folks you might recognize. The story is engaging primarily because you come to care for them quickly. I can't recommend this book enough. Well done Suzie Twine. I look forward to reading more from you!

A light easy read. Would love to see the series continue. The characters were well developed and I want to see where their lives go from here. The author has talent that I haven't seen in awhile. you can almost picture your self there and you want to get to know these qurkey characters.

What a marvelous story and even more marvelous characters. Exceptional, light reading and thoroughly enjoyable. To prove how dumbed down we are, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS MADE INTO A MOVIE or BBC SERIES. Bravo

This story is well written, characters well developed and a wonderful, funny book. The reader actually feels part of this crazy, but lovable community. You cannot miss with this one.

Moving to a quiet life in the country? No way! Bursting with witty observation, what a treat it is to slip into the hilarious lives of the various characters in Harewood Park. All the funny twists and turns of the plot will have you laughing out loud and falling in love with this colourful country life. Hilarity aside, the caring that goes on within this small but supportive community is touching. I found myself eagerly finding corners of time during the day to delve back into life in Harewood Park . As the book comes to an end you will come out of it speculating on subsequent events! Bring on Pumpkin II.

A really great book - believable but full of eccentric, charming characters. Touching storylines mixed with some ridiculously humorous moments. An easy-to-read, heart warming book that made me laugh out loud in places. Looking forward to the next one.

The Unorthodox Exploits of a Shire of Cards

Lois and Tom have settled happily into rural family life with their baby daughter, Mia, in the surprisingly quirky hamlet of Harewood Park. With pregnancy hormones once again coursing through her veins and a stream of bizarre happenings in the lane, Lois sets off on an emotional roller coaster of anxiety, hilarity and tears. A traumatic event pulls the already tight knit community even closer; skeletons, metaphorical and otherwise are exposed; and tensions run high in a precarious dash for an unorthodox finishing line.

The Unorthodox Arrival of Pumpkin Allan

An uplifting and moving story of an urbanite couple’s move to an unexpectedly quirky country hamlet.

Tom falls off his mountain bike three days before buying their cottage, leaving a pregnant Lois and her close friend to collect the keys. The horrors that greet them have Lois sick with worry that she should never have persuaded Tom to leave London. But as they settle into their new community, Lois uncovers a wonderfully eclectic mix of friends, enemies, crooks and eccentrics whose strength of character astound her.

Lois and Tom’s rapid series of major life events culminates in high drama, with their wedding and the birth of the baby in very quick succession and a melodramatic twist, as uninvited guests arrive at the home delivery.

*****  A worthy sequel and great holiday read

This novel is a worthy sequel to the first Pumpkin Allan book, and reunites the reader with the characters and continues their stories. Even if you have not read the first book you will quickly become engrossed in the array of colourful characters, both new and old, that inhabit the rural idyll of Harewood Park. The events that unfold take you on a roller coaster of emotions with some great laugh-out-loud moments, as well as some deeply poignant ones. This is a delightfully eccentric and quirky story and a thoroughly enjoyable holiday read.

I have been waiting for this book, and bought it the day it became available. It is great. All the wonderful characters from her first book are there and it was like getting together with dear friends catching up on how their lives were going. A beautiful written, easy read. Can't wait for her next book.
